Why can't this film be played straight away?

The creators of the amateur films shown are generally unknown, which means we are unable to obtain the necessary rights of use. Furthermore, many of the recordings show recognisable individuals who may still be alive. For this reason, we are publishing only still images and descriptions of the content here. We make the full films available on request, for example for academic and local history research, for museums and archives, or for relatives of the individuals shown.
